Recent roles include Herodias at Helsinki Opera and Malmö Opera. At Oper Leipzig Karin has sung roles such as Fricka and Erda in Der Ring der Nibelungen, Auntie in Peter Grimes, Begbick in Mahagonny, Die Amme in Die Frau ohne Schatten and Klytämnestra in Elektra. Upcoming role is First Norn in Götterdämmerung, in spring 2025 she rehearsed Die Amme in a production with Katie Mitchell and Marc Albrecht.

ABOUT ME
The Swedish-German Mezzo Soprano Karin Lovelius has become well known in her native Scandinavia and in mainland Europe for her intense interpretations of the dramatic mezzo-soprano repertoire. She has appeared i.a. The Finnish National Opera, Bergen International Festival, Oper Leipzig, Semperoper Dresden, the Royal Opera House, Sweden, Komische Oper, Badisches Staatstheater, Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse and Theater Erfurt.
Karin has been a soloist together with Bayerische Rundfunk, MSO, Odense Symphony Orchestra and The Gewandhausorchester. Her focus lies on the roles by Strauss and Wagner but also include Czech composers such as Dvořák and Janaček. She is an ardent champion of new music has premiered several compositions.
