The mezzo soprano Karin Lovelius, whom the audience in Leipzig normally hear in operas by Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss, showed a totally new side with Azucena’s Stride la vampa and Ulrica’s Re dell abisso affrettati and won the audience with her dark coloured mezzo voice and strong expression.
